Beretta allows you to float the fourth, and I think it's the only brand that'll do it.  I know for a fact a browning won't and neither will a versa max.  Alot depends on your buget too.  You can get a good pump for not much cash.  My Beretta a400 doesn't have the kick-off, but it doesn't kick bad until you get into bigger loads, and then its still not that bad.  Plus, your shootin so you don't concentrate on it.  It was up there in price but its extremely light weight and its a 28" barrel.  Still have not felt a lighter gun.  Course, like I said, it depends on your buget.  I paid right close to $1,600, but you can find pleanty of guns that'll do what mine will do for alot, lot less.

I believe 1187's are 2 3/4 only.  Sucks for shootin geese if you ever do it.

I use 3.5" 1 5/8oz blind sides, bb and 2 shot, and I honestly believe they kill better then regular round pellets.

11-87 supermag.... shoots up to 31/2  Wink

Don't rule out a Benelli semi-auto.  Most dependable shotgun I ever owned.  Browning A-5 can be problems with friction ring functioning based on ammo used and outside temp. etc., etc.,---almost threw mine into the Choptank River one day.  Got rid of it, got a Benelli Montefeltro super 90, and all problems cured and happy happy for years and years. Easy breakdown and cleaning, never a malfunction, good feel and much happiness.

Reading over all the reviews I think you might first wish to establish what features you yourself will be happy with. Weight, recoil, round capicity and so on - then once that is established research what is out there that has those features in a price range which will suit you pocket - in the realms of the 11-87 I can say little bad about it - however my experince with them is strickly sporting shooting as in skeet and sporting clays.

When ever I check reviews online I find hundreds of them on the product I review and they all range for the product being the best to the product being the worst. My mind then turns towards whom is giving these reviews, what their experience level is and so on - many of these reviews I believe are based on original expectations of the buyers before owning the product.

If you want some 11-87 experience - lets do some clays - I have one and you are more them welcome use it.

In the grand scheme of things, if you stick with the name brands, you'll be happy with whatever you get.  Browning, Beretta, Benelli, Remington, Mossberg (despite what some people my say about that).

Go to a gun shop and handle some see what you like.  But, if I were you, I would get something that'll shoot 3.5" shells.

My budget is $1500, but would go a little over budget for the right gun.

Ron,

at that budget you could get a benelli super eagle or browning gold hunter ...... 3 inch minumium or get the 3 1/2 super mag and you will have a gun for goose and turkey and still shot 2 3/4 and 3 inch for upland game and duck.........  The new remingtons are not what they use to be IMHO...

And my Browning BPS-10 pump shoots nothing but 3 1/2's    laugh laugh laugh laugh

the new A-5's are made mostly in Japan don't confuse them with a belgium browning .....
two buddy's had the newer A-5 and both had habits of jamming.. they must be kept super clean to avoid the jamming issues .....

10 guage shells are not all that expensive comparitively speaking. As far as recoil goes, the guns are usually heavy enough to eliminate most of the recoil. My Gold 10 is a sweetheart even with 1.75 oz slugs. They generally are not a gun that you would want to carry around all day.......thats for sure.

I am in the market for a new shotgun.   This gun will be used for pheasant, quail and duck hunting, so it needs to have some flexibility.

I am seriously looking at the Remington 1187 26" right now, but would welcome feedback about this gun or suggestions on another one.

Thanks in advance for the input.

When you plan on buying it???  I was thinking of getting a shotgun myself but I needed to put the thought off with current things going on.  Grin

bought it used from my borther for 4 bills.....  he then got his first Benilli.....I can't afford them either FP..  laugh laugh  so it used strictly for goose and duck.. I have killed ducks at 75-80 yards .. hence it is the hammer  laugh laugh  like Ki said.. heavy gun doesn't kick worse than a 12 gauge... even though it is a pump... but I only shoot pumps too poor to buy a semi......  and no the neset A-5 are better now so I have heard AI ma tlaking about 5 years ago or so...
they are a pretty shotgun though.. I like the distinctive hump back look.....

You buy one gun for life, or you buy several that fail on you.....eitherway, your spending about a grand or more.
