Built one of these today.  Way too many people and everyone had their own way to do it.   Roll Eyes  Wound up with an out of square half-a$$ excuse for a pit.  Glad the pit wasn't for me..... I just got to dig and push dirt.

Not my pit, not my material.  It is pressure treated though.  i told them to wrap it in tar paper or paint tar or do something to it.

I had nothing to do with the building process either.  Once I back filled the hole, a wall had a big bow in it.  I tend to over kill/build stuff, but I would rather it be over kill then caved in when it rains.

I understand.....that thing aint gonna last a year.

Pressure treated plywood is junk and any kind of plywood in the ground is worthless, especially on the floor.

There is advantech on the floor but it'll rot too.  It really just needs to be concrete.

that dirt looks pretty dry

what til it gets wet and heavy and slippery - I tell people, dirt moves just like water, just slower

ya know if that tractor wheel comes close to the sides, it will push that earth down and out and the walls in

It'll work for a while

ya no

you could buy a bradley metal blind/pit

or you can go out and buy/borrow or steal a metal dumpster - the open kind roll out kind or the kind with a lid

and get that welder and acetylene torch out

ther ya go

I like the 20 or 30 yard model (30 is deeper)- holds 6/7 hunters and with a pitched roof to keep the rain out. Put in a bench or bring a lawn chair

Some of the guys down here use plastic 55 gallon drums.  Only fit one man but works very well.

In fact I've seen them used as deer blinds as well.

The first time I saw one I couldn't figure what a drum was doing in the middle of the woods.  Had to investigate.  Found a small chair inside.  Then it dawned on me that it was a blind.
