This season I plan on doubling my trotline length to 600'. I currently use 3' of chain on both ends of my 300' line. Will it be best to add another 3' chain section to the middle of my line now? I am sure it will only help hold the line down better, but is it necessary? Is there a rule of thumb you guys tend to follow with regards to this?

Thanks!

Nevermind guys. I did a search and found advice on this very subject from experienced members. I'll stick to only having chains at the ends of the line.

Thanks again.

*note to self...search FIRST, then post lol...*

3' of chain at each end is plenty for a 600' line.  Its plenty of chain for a 6000' line too.

Do not put 3' of chain in the middle.  You will be sorry. Grin
