I believe the purpose of the bungee is to dampen vibrations. I'd bet cord would work but the difference between the two type of snoods - I don't know.

When snoods were first used in crabbing, they were made from cord, they work but bungee is much better. If you have a tangle, it gives, this to me is the biggest advantage to using bungee. Baiting and unbaiting is much easier with bungee too.

I agree.
use 5/16 fuel hose.
Much easier to work with than that skinny stuff, and they never break.

got a hold of some 3/16 marine bungee, so i made some, i like that better than the cord, going to get serious on the trot line this year , where i crab in del the current is to fast for a trot line , so its Indian river and the chester this year, thanks for makin my mind up for me gents

How fast are you talking? Upper reaches of the pax pushes hard. Snoods with bait and crab come up at a horizontal.. Only problem in the fast water is holding bottom..

delaware crabbin at the mouth of the jones and murderkill , always moving , best you can do is find a edy and chicken neck with hand lines
