Since the football season has ended, I decided to spend my holiday off crabbing.  The weather was great, low 70's with bright skies.  I put out hand lines in some salt ponds on the Island.  I caught five keepers in the first hour and a half with plenty throw backs.  The wind picked up and the crabs stopped.  Only caught one more keeper in the next hour, so I packed it in.  The half dozens keepers were small, 5 to 5 1/2 inches, but tasty.  I grilled them for lunch and had a nice meal.

Good to see some crabs being caught. Water looks to be about 57-60 degrees depending on where one goes.

No fair Ronnie.

1) I don't have easy access to Lake Pontchartrain.
2) My football season last one day longer than yours.
3) I couldn't eat that many crabs if I had them.

Did you pull in all your traps?

I liked the BCA allot more when we thought we were the only ones with crab.  Are winters longer now? I think so...  Grin
