Well I guess turn around is fair,so-- I have done most of my crabbing on the severn river, anyone down on the shore who would like to come over and try it here, I think you might like it.We go out of smiths marina, you can find it on line, and it is easy to get to.They charge you 20 dollars to use the ramp and it is not crowded on the weekend. They have a good parking area that would hold maybe 15 to 20 trucks with trailers, they also sell live bait for fisherman and have a small store for drinks and such. You can get there real early and pay when you get back, nice friendly people. My brother in law crabs there more often then I do,he lives there, and that is where my wife grew up.So he can go during the week when I can't, he does pretty good, most days he gets a bushell, he runs two 600 foot trot lines. My wife and I only use traps and I am happy with 2 dozen when I get them.So here is the deal, one of you all can come up here, let me know, on line when you are coming, and then, that will leave room for one small boat to come over to your side, should work out just fine.Donnie

Hey donnie I just might take you up on that. I could not find a ramp there so I launched at sandy point and road around. It would only be for one trip then I put my boat in the wye for the summer. It is a beautiful river there! Then if you wanna come over to the wye I would be glad to put you in some good spots especially since you use traps and can get in those little coves where the big and best crabs are. I am even making a video down there this year so I might be able to make you a movie star. Just kidding!

There are so many ramps all over the Chesapeake Bay this shouldn't even be a discussion. Use Google maps and find an area with a shallow area near shore that you can run a trotline or traps in about 8 feet of water. The best spots for crabbing are never discussed on here. Think about it. If you find a honey hole your not going to advertise it. You watch the show deadliest catch and they prospect for a good spot then they bomb it with traps. The fun of crabbing is actually crabbing. It becomes work to run to a spot and pound a bushel of crabs on the boat in an hour. I do love to bring crabs home but I will not play bumper boats to catch them. Stress is not what I am looking for. Relaxation and a good time is what is supposed to be going on, not arguing and fighting over the best spots. If you really need to know out of the way spots that you can catch crabs, B-mail me and I will share.

He asked about kent narrows and I know some out of the way spots at the wye. Where there will not be arguing and fighting over the best spots. He was nice enough to offer his severn river spot so I did the same. I dont mind the company. Heck you can come down to. The commercial guys have the best spots so I moved up river away from them. They have bellys to feed.

Crabman, I am not entering into a discussion about your motives(I have seen your earlier posts) There are crabs and spots enough for everyone who wishes to go out and get them. My point is the Bay is huge and there are so many places that people never mention that hold crabs. People should try not to be sucked into the whole " I gotta try the Wye thing". I understand it is your favorite river Crabman, and I am just opening up other options. I would think with all your expertise on that river that you too would be ready to try other places to see if you could be the best on other rivers also. Good luck to all and enjoy yourselves. At the end of the day that is what is important

Donnie by the way they did install 4 new ramps at the wye and there are other good rivers around kent narrows that you were interested in like the miles river, chester and kent narrows itself. Beings they are not far from your home. But like I said make sure that you get your permit cause they are ticket happy in queens anns couny. And fishingtom my motives are to help some people out and hopefully get some help from them which I already have. But I do appreciate you finally reconizing my expertise!

The 4 new ramps at the Wye are in Talbott County, not Queen Anne's County. Unless the Schnaitmans have been selling me the wrong stickers this whole time.

You are correct about that! But you can get to the wye from kent narrows. I was just offering the man and his wife the opportunity to come over tp the wye since he offered others to come crab with him at the severn.

Not familiar with Kent Narrows until I just looked it up. Gotcha now. Just didn't want them buying the wrong permit.
