Legs work fine just take the skin off. Maple creek/pond seems to be good but we also caught some out on the edges of DC.

I use chicken wings and bunker.  I personally wouldn't remove the skin as that's the oiliest part and the crabs get caught on the skin pretty easily as it gives them soething pliable to hold on to.  I would also reccomend bringing some anti-bacterial wet naps or baby wipes if you're gonna be handling chicken and make sure you clean up after each time you handle the bait.  They're also nice to have at the end of the day to clean up before heading home.

As for the hot spots, they were all over the place when I was there a week ago.  Look for deep spots close to the bank and out of the current from the tide.  Still water on top is usually a good indicator.  Throw your front anchor onto the bank and rear anchor so you're at 90 to bank.  Anywhere around Maple creek produced well as did several spots on Hansey creek.  Good Luck!

Thats funny, I heard they don't like the skin as they can't chew it as well. Sounds like a good experiment.....

MagnumTRex, That a VERY GOOD POINT WITH REGARDS TO HANDLING CHICKEN!  Many times especially when using chicken, we feel as though there is no need to wash up after handling the bait.  Salmonella is quickly spread on wet warm surfaces, a day out in the hot sun is the perfect conditions to set yourself up for a bout of food poisoning.

PS  My vote is to leave the skin on!

9:30!!!!  Boy Kid you're a late riser!  Just think how many you missed from sunrise on!  By 9:30 I'm ready to chow down on my lunch and take a nap!

Oh well I can't blame you though, with summer winding down, you were probally up late watching Southpark or playing video games, so I guess I should cut you some slack. ha ha

Keep up the good work!

I put in at Hansey creek and work my way down in and around Dividing creek I usually make a stop at Maple pond.  I have a yellow 14' Mirro Craft resort.  Best of luck to you!

Any motels in the area?  My brother and nephew want to go out Sunday and I thought we would try Dividing Creek for a change, usually go out of Sea Isle, but we like to go down the night before so that we can get any early start

Probably the closest motel would be in Millville, unless there's something over in Fortesque but I doubt it.

I used to stay in a little hotel right in Fortescue that was above a restaurant there about 7 or 8 years ago though I forget the name.  It wasn't much of a place but it served the purpose.  Millville off of 55 is probably your best bet, you're only about 20 minutes away there.  Make sure you make reservations if you're gonna rent, I saw quite a few people turned away when I stopped to pick up bait.  I crab Sea Isle when Dividing Creek isn't producing.   Thing is, Dividing creek IS producing and a much better choice right now.  No guarantees if or when it's gonna be as good as it is this year again.  Good Luck, and be sure to let us know how you do.

I'm suprised that there is a hotel of any sort in Fortescue <G>  My senior year of high school a bunch of us used to go down there, a friend's family had a place, and from what I recall Fortescue wasn't a whole lot.  Higbee's Marina, a couple of party boat slips and a lot of small vacation cottages.  This was about 30 years ago tho so things might have changed.  Guess we'll run down sometime Sat afternoon after my brother gets done work and look around to see if we can find anything.  Don't need anything fancy, just a place to rest the head.  Hate getting up at 2-3 am to drive down, then stay out on the water and have to drive back.  Prefer to get a good night's rest close by so we can get an early start and then I'm not so trashed driving home.

Thanks

P.S.  Remember, at the end of the day, drop all those used up baits in so the jimmies you didn't catch will fatten up for me next week!
