It was on the local news a day or so ago. They said it was going back. They also said it wasn't close to being a record. I think they said they record was 40+ lbs.

Nice story, glad they are at least putting it back. Wonder if it could molt again and grow larger or if that is it. Lots of barnacles on him.

yes... he or she can continue to molt.......it's just a long time between molts at that size/age.......They live to be 100 years old although some biologists think they can reach 150 years old..........They figure the world record at 44 pounds is around 100-110 years old..........think about that.....the world record was born as the titanic took her plunge and survived to world wars at sea and a [curd] load of fishing pressure............

That make the crawfish in Louisiana look small. LOL
That also would require a lot of garlic butter.
It's good to hear that it was released.

Oh my WORD!
I remember years ago taking a school field trip to either the Vineyard or somewhere on the cape and they had something around that size. They were saying it could snap a broom handle with the crusher. Yikes!! Think of that next time something crawls over your feet while wading!!
