I just wanted to report that the season has slowed down on the Canal, but I have pulled keepers all this season! Due to the winter we have had temps have not dropped enough to send the bugs into hibernation? I'm waiting to see the return of bait fish to see how early stripers will return! You can see a change in what has been feeding off the traps.

I have seen this happen many times over the years.  I have kept notes and still have pretty good recall of the past.  Rob hit the nail on the head...............Great Winter, no ice little or no snow and the season starts out with a bang.  We don't need many hot days to get the shallow water temperatures up to the level that we can begin crabbing and what do you know, the darn water heats up even more than usual and the crabs move to water that is a little cooler.  Then everyone complains that their favorite spot is producing nothing.

If there is one thing I know, in southcoast Massachusetts you have to be adaptable and use your experience to get your share.  Let's hope I am wrong and there is an abundance for everyone, but my hopes aren't that high.  I have stopped by some of the local sites already and there are no signs of activity.

I will post as soon as something starts.  I hope everyone gets their share !!!!!

Forgot to mention that the water temperature is hovering around 47 degrees +- a couple
