I enjoy my late season trips I made to Rock Hall, MD last year, but the Delaware bridges are much slower.  Any idea on a date range I can start catching crabs from those bridges?  I have a pregnant woman craving fresh crabs that can't wait much longer.

Gonna be a while yet, wont start seeing results on those bridges till late june into july. I usually dont bother crabbing De. till the end of july, this year maybe a little different with the winter we have had but we havent had the spring rains yet. There are still a lot of variables. I am getting the itch just like everyone else, but I have fishing to hold me over Grin till the crabs start moving!

The bridge down at Love Creek on Route 24 should start yielding in early may this year (at the latest.)

So does that mean I should make early season trips to Rock Hall (eastern neck)?

how early are you talking?  it all depends on rain and temps.  Got them 1st week of June down there last year, but it wasnt as good as the crabbing that you experienced from the dock.  That happens later in the summer.

I normally use a trotline or traps when I crab.
My father inlaw uses a chicken leg, fishing rod, and a 13 foot dipnet on those bridges. The ones outside of Townsend.
Craziest thing Ive ever seen, but when he comes home with 1/2 bushel, he's in crab heaven.

I was dipping shrimp from Muddy Branch this weekend and noticed a few small (3 inches or so)crabs swimming around.  The tide was low.
