today on the rising tide. 5 traps, chicken, steamers, a sunny and a spot  Huh
A dozen nice jimmies, ten at 6 inches. Other side of high tide, dead.

My dad went out with my uncle while I was out of town  furious furious3 furious2 but they ended up with 18 large crabs in 2 hours.... my dad called it quits after the 2 hours (I was like are you kidding me the more the better) but they were using chicken necks and traps with the 4 sides that close... I'll be heading out with the cousin in the near future and will show them how to catch crab! Good luck to those heading out.

I'm going to guess around bear mountain area and unsure of number of traps... my dad didn't go into detail guess he didn't want to tell me his secret spot  Roll Eyes but he had the boat with him so it could have been anywhere....

shy of 7 1/2" !! 4 traps, 2 handlines, two of us were very busy for
a few hours. I will try to post some pictures later.

My brother-in-law and I did a 4 contractor bag cleanup under the bridge last week too.
On Labor Day a family of 3 picked up a few dozen.
If today's weather doesn't kill the crabbing, under the bridge should still produce.

My brother-in-law bought Perdue (skinless) drumsticks and thighs. I suggested we have a BBQ and skip
the crabbing. I'm glad we didn't  Grin

Went crabbing on the hudson at bear mountain on 9/14 using bluefish cracasses from 2 weeks ago when i went out on the Klondike....caught 16 big blue crabs, one a bit over 7 inches....all caught just before low tide and into the incoming tide, using 8 traps....i went again yesterday, 9/15 and didnt catch a crab until my final lift, where i got 2 good sized crabs....the tide had just started to come in, but it was getting dark and my niece was getting bored......i went down to the nyack pier 3 weeks ago, and caught not a thing in 4 hours using perch and a carp carcass as bait......i used to go to the pier in nyack all the time, and i used to kill it....30, 40 crabs in a few hours....for the past 3 years, ive caught more summer flounder in my traps down in nyack than i have crab...gonna go out again tomorrow, wish me luck
