I have a $50 licensce for the bay= 1 bushel
I also will purchase an additional decal for crabbing
Does this allow me to take home 2 bushels??
This comes up every year

No,your bay license covers you and you only for crabing. If you buy a boat crabing license you are only still alowed to catch 1 bushel. The only way you can catch 2 is if someone else on your boat with you has their own crabing license.

Rburg sometimes after you read the regs you re still confused.The nice thing about this site is the sharing of knowledge.I don't think it's that life altering or difficult to rerad repetitive questions,ignore them if they bother you.By the way,DO THEY RENT BOATS AT THE WYE?

Eddie I think some people just like to feel superior,and have to blast those of us that aren't as crab smart as they are.Fortunately they re in the minority.I wish my life were so simple that a repeated question on here caused me griief,it would sure be an easy life

I agree.. People should not be scared to ask a question on this site. Its for learning and helping out fellow crabbers. Its a social site as well. We talk, we joke, bust balls, answer question, ask question. Don't like it don't read it.

The $50 Chesapeake Bay Sport Fishing Decal is NOT valid as a Recreational Crabbing Boat License (though the puchaser of this decal is given one complimentary individual recreational crabbing license).

CATCH LIMITS FOR A LICENSED BOAT:
Without any persons in the licensed boat who also possess an Individual Recreational Crabbing License;
1 bushel of hard crabs
2 dozen soft crabs or peelers
Owner of the licensed boat in the boat with unlicensed crabbers;
1 bushel of hard crabs
2 dozen soft crabs or peelers

Well I'm hoping it's something I have to worry about for the first time this year.I personally have never even caught a full bushel of crabs in Md or de,close but no full bushel,so congrats to all of those who need to ask.

There's no better, more satisfying feeling then the first time you look at a bushel and can say, "that's all that'll fit". I hope you get the experience a lot this year.

i always interpreted the law this way and would pack an orange basket. after re reading the regs it seems to say 1 bu + 2 doz soft or peelers. I dont really worry about the DNR, ive been checked a few times and they seem more interested in all the licensing and safety gear. they look in the basket but never touch a crab, twice i had open containers they didnt mention. the only wildlife police that gave me a hard time was NC for fishing off a jetski past sunset.

Nope.  I questioned DNR awhile back about this scenario and was told that the answer was no. It's one bushel per license.
