I'd rather see DNR cut the rec. limit to 1 bu. per boat per day. thats plenty of crabs for a feast for any family even with friends and such. also daily reporting by recs mandatory. So i guess were not too far apart crabman.

Just wanna see my grandchildren enjoy what we enjoy! If a couple of bushels of females is gonna hurt the comm. guys pocket then maybe they should take up another living. I have respect for some comm. guys but we do have to give back to insure the future of the fishery. I do! You shouldn't here to start fights, either. Smiley faces about comm limits being reduced coupled with suggestions they should take up another line of work is out of line and looks like baiting in my book. Remember you are talking about people's livelihood here, and that's a kitchen you don't want to be cooking in.

I agree with 1 bushel per boat beings that is plenty for family and friends. If we keep taking, taking and taking then the future of crabbing does not look so good. My crab measurer is set at 51/2 inches. Sorry if I rubbed the comm. man the wrong way but I think we all need to give back. Hope you all have a good year!

I think 2 dozen is enough. Want a bushel....take out 2-3 more licensed crabbers.
No more free rides. You wanna feed the neighborhood, make em get licenses and get em out there crabbing.

Ronster no disrespect but I will be working part time on a comm. boat this coming season. I might not be cooking nothing special in the kitchen but I will be cooking. They will probally just have me cleaning dishes.

My opinion of the current crab limits is just a general concern for the long term good of the species. I feel we are all taking too many crabs for it to be sustainable....this is nothing personal, and if your taking it personal, your to thin skinned to be on the internet.

Thanks, nothing personal. Just too many differences in opinion that we're both entitled to, and it takes away from my enjoyment of the forum.

dnr can put as many limits on recs and comm guys . but unless there out there enforcing it then it wont matter . like i know a guy that has been caught 7 times this year for undersized oyster and annapolis wont take his license . if people work the pax and wicimico river you know who im taking about . he had his boat and truck taken away 3 times and still has his license .

Than it is personal and your taking it too personal. My advise to you, is to take your thoughts and opinions to and out onto Marylands' general assembly.

How can it not become personal when you tell someone to invest thousands in a boat, money in gear, a pile of gold for gasoline, and you can catch 2 dozen crabs.

I do the same for ducks and geese and I'm only allowed 2 scaup.
There are other things you can do with your vessels besides crab and because you did so, should you be allowed 10 striped bass per person or sturgeon?......and I mean no disrespect by this, but thats about the most ridiculous reason I ever heard to over harvest blue crabs.
I dont tell anyone to do anything, if you want to buy a boat and fuel to run it, go right ahead.

Chris ,how are we taking too many since the # of comm. lic. has been reduced a good bit from where it was say 25 years ago.DNR also has thier threshhold # that they don't want to exeed and for the last 4 years hasen't been exceeded. I'm not busting b_lls hear just talking. I would agree that we might be overharvesting if the rec. catch is as high as some believe vs what DNR says thier catching. Crabs have been harvested comm. for a very long time on the bay without a major problem. The internet has also help to increase rec. harvest by leaps and bounds over the last 5-10 years as well.

2 dozen crabs would not feed my family but I don't need 2 bushel. That's a very interesting statement you just made. Comparing one rare select species of duck to the entire blue crab fishery. Not to mention how many ducks total are you allowed during a hunting season (all types)?
