This guy just hit me up through Bmail and said all this talk about the bay belonging to Maryland, the feds and/or the being a free public resource for all to use is hogwash.
He claims it belongs to his group.
SAG - Screen Actors Guild owns the bay. ?

So last year, my brother-in-law was dying of leukemia and needed a bone marrow transplant. The best facility in the country, and one of the few who perform the process, was at Johns Hopkins. Are you saying that we should have tried to find someone willing to attempt the procedure in NJ? Or that we should have to buy a house in MD first so that YOUR resources now become OUR resources. Or maybe he could go on vacation to MD, and get the transplant while he's on vacation.
ok we are talking crabs to medical resources thats comparing apples and oranges. At least list a better analogy. GO back and read some more of my post its a 5 yr restriction along with more restrictions to recs and commericals

I think alot of the problem is because a few people think its funny that dnr is lowering catch limits and trying to raise our fees. I mean alot of these guys would be ready to burn down their office if they told them they were making coffee 50 cents a cup and the vending machines were seeing a 1 snicker per day limit.

The issue is not knowing or having the slighest clue of how many crabs recs are taking. See, its the same way on this board as it is in the DNR. You say, "I don't think recs are the problem, they don't take as much as you think" then others say "recs take more than you think". Same in the DNR. We need reporting because we simply don't know.

I myself as a lifelong marylander have no problem with out of staters coming to maryland waters and crabbing. They pay there fees and deserve the opportunity to crab just as much as anyone else including comm. crabbers.
At most what are they gonna take 1 or 1 and half bushels once a week like most rec. crabbers.
WHAT IS THIS BASED ON?!?!?!
"Like most rec crabbers"
?? Where did you get that data?

This is just what I see first hand! Not all rec. crabbers both marylanders and out of staters limit out with 2 bushels everytime they go. NOT EVEN ME!!!! Most I believe arer happy with a bushel including myself so thats what I base my data on.

a·nal·o·gy ( -n l -j ). n. pl. a·nal·o·gies. 1. a. Similarity in some respects between things
that are otherwise dissimilar
.
The very idea of an anology is to compare apples to oranges.
My analogy was about using state lines to exclude certain people like they're some sort of subspecies.

So when you say "Most rec crabbers" you see the majority of the 95k? Man, you get out more than I do.
The bay is HUGE. And its alot different in the choptank than the chester. and alot different in the chester than across the bay in the patapsco, and alot different in the patapsco than the elk. Just cause guys aren't limiting out where you are doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I know of recs who sell extra crabs. I see it on FACEBOOK!!!!!

The sad part of all of this is: if state lines ended at the shoreline and the bay was to be FEDERAL WATERS then the states (GOVERNERS) would have no political control over the Bay.

Well I crab the wye so most of the time it seems like the 95k rec. crabbers are just crabbing there. As far as recs. selling crabs on facebook, that is a crime! And if they continue to advertise what they are doing they will get caught. The DNR has access to facebook.
