Personally I enjoy female crabs, I dont notice a difference in taste. Yes they do have less meat, but to me its not a big deal. I still get full from eating them and enjoying a nice cold beer.

I like them also! And have trouble throwing back 8 inchers or better. But I do because the alternative is 165.00 dollar fine. And mr. Ray will probally hook me up with 10 bushels for 165.00 dollars.

I think those fat females that show up (not Ray's type ) in the fall are big and loaded with meat when people tell me they don't eat female crabs, I ask if they ever ate a crab cake and did you ever notice the orange stuff in the container of crab meat.

I agree. I love them. Those big females are loaded with meat and stay that way. There is some kind of myth about females don't taste good. People believe they don't eat females, but buy crab meat from the grocery store, then say it tastes better than females. If they only knew. Ray, I'll take some this summer.

Before you throw it back,,,, Take a verifiable pic... I'd like to see a 8+ Sook..... years ago I had a 8"+ soft crab She was so big I had to cut her in half and make 2 sandwiches and even then she was one inch thick and hanging out of the bread now I prefer smaller soft crabs for sandwiches
