i would go with 30LB. Braided line, has know memory & will last for years..... just my 2-cents.
P.S. Have a Good stout fishing rod.... because that Braid will cut thru Monofiliment line like it was butter which will tend to piss off other fisherman.

30# braid will work. Like Seanile says, a steel leader, even a short one will do. The blues have sharp teeth.

Absolutely hooks with a steel leader. Have the scares to prove it.

30 Pound braid will work fine. It depends on how you are fishing. I surf fish a lot and use 50 pound braid. I know its a little over kill but with braid being so thin you can get a lot of line on your real. I also use 4 to 7 oz sinkers and that puts a lot of strain on the line. I have snapped my line before casting with 50 pound test. Good luck fishing.

I surf also but with 65lb. braid..... but i also do alot of off shore fishing....if you are snapping your line you might be using/or tying the wrong knot for braid.... i use the Polimar<{ Spelling} knot.... never had any problems.

maybe taking your finger off the line a lil earlier may cure the snapping effect...lol Ive sent some good ones....4oz sinker goes like a [Sam Hill] with no line attached...lol
I'd use 30 lb braid...and leader depends on the blues.. if the lure is big enough you really wont need a leader. I have never used a leader and have only lost a few fish because of it....and they were 6-8lbers.

Ha ha ha! I thought I was the only one who ever did that! I wasn't going to admit it when I read about your scars, but now that I know I wasn't the only idiot when I was young.....
