Well last year I bought enough necks to get me through the year. My wife suffered a knee injury in June and I didn't quite get out as much as I was planning. I have a load of necks and they are pretty freezer burnt. I assume they will work fine, but has anyone had any bad luck with them? Thanks, Shedhunta

A species that will eat it's own will probably not care too much about freezer burn. Fresher might be better, but why waste 'em? Those chickens stuck their neck out for you.

Oh, de crab, he taste so fine. Yuh catch 'um wid a neck an' a line. Bile de water 'til 'e good 'n hot. Den eat de crab strait from 'de pot.
Oh, de beer, he taste so chilly. Drinks it 'til I gets too silly. Washin' down 'de crab an' butter. If I doesn't fall down, I'll 'ave anudder.

I agree with Craig above, but the freezer burned necks are still usable and will catch crabs.

[Sam Hill] I baited my line with the last of my necks in the fall and threw it in the freezer and I plan to thaw it and use it first trip this year.

I got about 15-20 lb of left over necks from last year. Plus, a bunch of fish heads and assorted small critters in my bait freezer. I can hardly wait!!!

I also leave my baited line frozen all winter, and the crabs never complain in the spring-

They complain less if the bait is fresh. But suit yourself.
