Hello,

I am doing some research for a novel I am writing and am looking for information on crabbing in general, and crabbing in the 1800's, in Maryland, specifically.  But I am no newbie when it comes to crabbing and crabs.  I was born in PG County Maryland, also lived in Charles and Montgomery, before moving to VA Beach when I was 13.  I lived there until I was 25, and now I am landlocked in Indiana.  Have been for six years.  Guess that's why I am writing this book.  haha

But as far as crabs, I have only done it myself with string and chicken, but when I was a kid my dad ran trot lines at Benedict, I think.  What I remember most were the bull lips he used as bait for a time.

Any help offered in the form of commentary, or just pointing to some sources of info would be much appreciated.  I will peek around and maybe post another thread asking for help. Following the rules here with the intro post, but I figured I'd put my agenda out there at the same time.

Wishing you all a bountiful season,

Pumphrey
