My name is John. We have lived in Plano, Texas since 1979. (Plano is a suburb of Dallas.) Both my wife and I grew up near the Gulf Coast. We spent time on West Beach (Galveston) many summers. Now retired, she is still teaching, we have planned THE FAMILY vacation this year with our two grown children and our five grandchildren. We chose Dauphin Island, Alabama because of it's reputation and the wonderful attractions beyond the Gulf, which it offers.

One of my fondest memories is catching (usually by heavy string and chicken necks). Later I moved to traps, but the crab into the net is an anticipated moment I hope to relive this summer with my grandchildren.

So, I am not a commercial guy (thank God for them) and not an avid amateur. I am just an older man hoping to plant special memories for my grandchildren to remember in the years to come and with their future families.

Welcome John from New Orleans Louisiana.  I'm Capt. Ron (Ronnie) a commercial crabber in Lk Pontchartrain.  Met some of your heroes (firemen) while they were here playing baseball.  Great bunch of guys.  Good luck in Dolphin Island.  Try to SCUBA if ya get a chance.
