I use 3/8". It's bent in a square to match the bottom of the pot. The ends are welded. 1/2" with 2 zinc's makes the pot to heavy for me.
Why you run two zincs? How long does 1 last down there? |

Hmmm.....I know guys who have 4 zincs but thats cause they replace every year, or every other, but I don't know of anyone who puts two new ones on.

Do we gotta teach you LA guys everything?!   A zinc is a sacrificial anode like on your outboard. Keeps the pot from getting ate up by electrolysis. |

Don't have that problem in Lk Pontchartrain. I'm fishing traps that are 6 years old now. Pretty soon I'll be calling them patches instead of traps.  Ronnie |

A zinc is that thing in the kitchen where you wash dishes. At least that's how my Grandma used to pronounce it.
Ronnie, Do you make your own traps or buy them already made?
I can't get any coated 1X1 mesh anywhere around here.

Use to make my own years ago. Got all the gatchets needed. Just not worth it. Only save $3 a trap. Takes 15 minutes to make one. Sore thumbs the next day from bending the funnel wire. No Not any more. I do modify mine once I get them home. About time to buy another 100 to replace the old ones. Have some repairs to the boat first. How many rolls of 1 x 1 do ya need? What color? Riverdale ofcourse. Strange ya can't get any around there. Isn't Shepard wire in Tx. Closest place might be Lk Charles. If ya still want the wire after the first let me know. Maybe we can meet somewhere halfway, Beaumont/Lk Charles, Tx. border. Y'all might consider me an alien. Have to show my red card. Ronnie |

Went to Crisfield today. Won't be going back. Don't like the place, the people, or the prices.  They were a 100 bucks higher for all the stuff I wanted. Left there and went to Marshall's. Dropped 300 clams and it was a pleasure doing business....  |

Marshall's in Atlantic is much cheaper then Eddie Heath. For eample same gloves... 10 bucks at Heath. 8 bucks at Marshall's.
