With the water so warm for this time of the year maybe the big perch are up in the fresh water spawning early?
I would try one of those small blues for bait I bet the stripers are eating them
Plan on being down what way next weekend for perch .  I was going to try Grass shrimp and small minnows

You were exactly right as of yesterday ...found the big ones. Think sod , think camping , think shrimp and some bloodies, didn't try minnows .
Thanks!

Got it thanks  I hit the CC ponds today nothing.  Then I hit the river at the ramp a couple of small ones  so I took a ride down to the bessley point  bridge   They were into stripers and blues  big time.  Bunker all around they were snaging them and using them for bait  And I was there with a perch rod with 6 lb test Cry  Saw a 32" two 30" and a 35"striper  and a big blue had to be 10 pound if not better   If the tides and weather are good will be giving bridge fishing a try next weekend If not than it will be perch fishing by boat

I hit the Patcong and Tuckahoe sunday am  Water temp at high tide(6am) in the Patcong was 48.8  No fish moved to the Tuckahoe  water temp was 50.9  what a difference  A week makes  it was cold on the water  Perch fishing was slow  but the dozen fish we did get had some size to them.
Crabby, we got the big perch up river  at your spot  We need a week of warm weather to get things moving again

Glad I stayed on land Sunday.    That water temp is an eight degree drop.

My shrimp were frozen and mushy, hard to keep on the hook so I used some still-kickin' bloodworms on #4 red laser hooks. Hand-tied high/low rig with the lower hook 6" up, top hook about 20" above that, 6" snells.. Slow tide produced on the top hook, fast tide bottom hook. I started a chum line with some water I had used to boil cocktail shrimp the night before, but I don't think that was necessary really. All fish caught in the same spot within 10 yards, in about 4-6 ft. of water.   Grin
