Do you use a gasoline engine or trolling motor?

A calm spot could be anywhere at anytime - watch the winds and weather - tuck up against the land on the side the wind is coming off of - look for skinny water.

I use my 7'8" dinghy with a 40lb thurst trolling motor, with a deep cycle marine battery, with a small motorcycle battery as back up, by Fenwick, Ocean City, and Rehobeth, in the early morning, and just did calmer parts of the severn yesterday, I only run 6 traps, but lost one yesterday  Undecided

Morning is a good time for calm air - most wind is caused by thermal action - when fronts move thru is a slight exception even tho they are thermally generated themselves.

I would say the power plant would be a good place for you.  Many of the rivers that lead to the bay are tidal, and the current in these places is usually too powerful for a small boat (Bowers, St. Jones, etc).
