My name is Michael Norman, I am new to the forum. I am originally from Moss Point, MS, but moved to Metairie, LA a few years ago. I work hard every day, at a job I despise and for a boss I despise. I'm 30 years old, have two beautiful, healthy children, and another boy on the way. I am seriously contemplating getting into business for myself and starting commercial fishing. Any advice is welcome. I know a lot of you are going to say, dont do it, your not gonna make much money, yada yada yada. Point being, I want to spend more time with my family and children. Im not trying to become rich and so forth, just comfortable. I am planning on buying all my supplies at the end of the summer and getting started by August. I want to be running about 200-300 pots a day. Im new to commercial fishing, but have experience in crabbing, and fishing in general. I grew up on the water and the rivers, and I think I would much rather enjoy working for myself, and being in an environment that I love and respect. With that being said, I guess thats my introduction, and I look forward to meeting some of you out on the water.

Thanks Ronster. I am truely excited to get started. Its gonna take me a while to get everything up and running, and thousands of dollars, but I think its well worth the investment. You cant make any money working for "the man", lol. Im gonna get out there and hustle for it. I spent 8 years in the military, and worked in the hazmat and emergency response field for about ten years total as a fireman/emt. I love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping etc. And to me theres no better job than working for yourself and enjoying what you do. Fishing is one of the worlds oldest sports if not the oldest. I look forward to getting to know all of you, and keep all of you in my prayers daily. Be safe out there Capt.
