Creek Crabbing 4/12/12

Put 2 pots out in creek behind my house 2 days ago with fish heads for bait. There are 8 crabs total in the pots right now. All male...all small and look like not much meat in any of them. Does it take longer for crabs to start running in smaller rivers and creeks?
