Heading out in the morning to try my luck at stripers on the Delaware River for the first time.  We have a full boat and not one of us has ever even seen one in the water.  I got the circle hooks, squid, bloodworms, and clams and an idea on where to go.  I was told to drop the lines to the bottom around 10ft deep and don't touch em till I hook one.  Anyone else want to chime in with ANY advice, it will not go on deaf ears.

You didn't mention what size hooks ya got, but we use #8s or 9s further south in DE bay.  Most popular bait this time of  year is fresh bunker, if ya can find it, one bunker yields 4-5 baits.  Clams rank 2nd.

My hooks are pre- rigged on 36" leaders, we use "fish finder" (sinker sliders) to attach the sinkers, anchor up, If you're using conventional reels, set 'em in free spool, turn on the clicker, stick the rod in a holder and wait for the sweet screaming sound of a runoff.  Baitrunner spinning reels work well for the striped ones also.

Have fun, bring enough beverages - it can be a long wait.  Wink
