Yeah Reds, Steve Early wasn't appointed.  He looked real professional walking out of the DT meeting didn't he.  Comms are trying to work with DNR and DNR's representative gets up and walks out after making a smart azz remark about watermen.

Is that what happened to him?
I thought he was doing the best that he could and decided he couldn't do any better. Grin

Now you want to tell all Maryland Commercial Fishermen how the DNR now has authorization (by law) to charge them for the Hailing System and the design team hasn't even fully voted to implement the pilot program, yet.

Reds,
Attitudes like that are unacceptable, but covering the whole dept with a blanket statement is just as unacceptable.

You dont like it when everyone does the same to watermen.

When you have been around the DNR Fisheries and see what they do, as long as I have, you'll understand.

I'm sure there are janitors, that work for the DNR, that are nice people.

I dont put much credence in what you say on here, you've been wrong as much or more than your right, but you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.

I'm no fan of the Dept either, the way they tried to stick it to us with the hunting and boating fees, but that was the "political" Dept of the DNR doing that, not the "boots on the ground" part of the Dept.

Reds, Crabslayer, what happened that caused Early to walk out? I'm sure they won't post the straight scoop on the DT website, IF they ever get around to updating it.

In a nutshell he basically called watermen liars.  A watermen from Talbot county a few minutes later said that he would let him slide on his Smart Aleck remark.  With that Early picked up his belongings and stormed out saying he had enough of this.  In my mind that's like walking off the job and he should GO!

Well, they finally posted the transcripts for the April meeting. As I suspected, there was NO mention of the incident with Steve Early. That's why I don't trust the whole process - they only tell you what they want you to know. Just like mushrooms, keep 'em in the dark and feed 'em bullpiffle! Angry

Why don't you post on their website and ask why the incident wasn't listed in the minutes.  Grin  C'mon Mikie, you can do it.  Grin

They are going to say "You are a month late". It happened in March not April.

It wasn't mentioned in those minutes either.

Oh and you probably won't get an answer until they meet again and approve an answer. Grin

Well, pretty much doesn't matter which meeting it happened in - failure to disclose the facts, is failure to disclose the facts. That's why I don't trust anything they say.

You're right Reds. They'll bring it to the attention of the DT at the next meeting to approve a response!

You're right Reds. They'll bring it to the attention of the DT at the next meeting to approve a response!

Here's their response.

"Thank you for your question. Your feedback and involvement is critical to this process. The meetings are captured in summaries, not detailed minutes. The Design Team strongly encourages your attendance.
The Design Team will be meeting on 6/6 and develop a full response to your comment. If you would like to contact a member before the meeting, we can provide contact information for your county and/or At-Large members in a separate email or phone call. Email the website or call Kate from the Support Team at 919-986-2662."

I don't attend the meetings of The House of Delegates in D.C., nor the one in Annapolis. I have elected representatives who are SUPPOSED to represent my interests. Same with the DT.

This coming meeting should be interesting. The guys from this area think your interests should be represented to a greater degree. So the meeting may be packed with supporters who think the same way.

And?

Webster defines waterman as "a person who makes his living from the water (as by fishing, crabbing, or oystering)"

Wink  The term "Waterman" is probably not Politically Correct in Maryland any longer....If O'Malley has his way the Watermen will be "SLAVES" to the State, Farming Oysters,Rockfish and Crabs for the Recs to enjoy....JMO
