As per comar

 (2) "Collapsible crab trap" means a manually operated, portable device:

(a) Having a flat bottom not more than 20 inches by 15 inches, and not more than four articulated sides; and

(b) Designed so that failure to apply manually exerted tension on the closing mechanism allows the crabs to escape.

And beware of those spring loaded traps that close automatically!  Illegal

I don't know the policy or requirement on BCI,

however this is a company that I purchased my gear from last year and had much succes with the products.

I purchased the bigguns and the snood trot lines (600 and 1200 footer)

I once caught 2 crabs in the traps, however i have heard (by owner of company) that the most ever caught in one was 7 keepers.  I have not caught more than 2 in a trap.

If I have broken any policy, I will not post another site in the future...

I have some big guns in my trap arsenal and found them to be cumbersome on the boat and they don't catch more than a standard topless traps.    They rarely see the water now.

I've caught 4 in my foxymates before.  I'm thinking if one falls off on the way up he's probabaly stupid enough to get back in for another try at my chicken. Pull a small a trap with 4 crabs twice or pull one thats 48% bigger( Big Gun according to website linked) and holding 7 crabs probabaly not much difference in the work involved.

What does 20X15 mean flat with doors opened or just the bottom portion when doors are closed?

they are a little cumbersome especially if you have a son who is tired from pulling traps all day and just too lazy to stack them nice and neat.....   but i guess big traps mean more room.....

Don't forget, also per comar:

(3) "Crab net ring" means netting supported by a ring-shaped rim less than or equal to 30 inches in diameter.
