Closed system with no filter
«

Saw on here where Someone had a 4x8 table with oyster shells in the bottom of the table with no bio filter besides the shells in the table. How well does this work? I know I couldn't overload it with crabs but will it work?

shells are in a seperate container....not in the bottom of the float with the crabs.

So place them in the table just like in a bucket with holes cut in the bottom so the water gets to the shells?

Overdrive, i have seen it done the way you said . A family friend had a crab buiness part time and he had 3 3x8 floats stagerd one over the other and eachone drained into the other then pumped backed to the top. they all had oyster shell in the bottom of the floats and no other bio filter. I don't see why it wouldn't work with a single float, the only reason for the shells is to give the good bacteria a place to set up and live.
