I was talking with my uncle and he attended a crab task force meeting today in Baton Rouge. The task force is trying to implement a season on crabs. If this happens, it will put lots of fisherman out of business especially in our area. They agree that the crab is capable of maintaining themselves and they are not depleting the resource. From what I understand, the head of the Crab Task force is also a major importer of Venezuelan crab meat. If a season is put in place, this will help this man's business because he won't have the competition of the wild caught Louisiana crab.
Please make your voice heard, that we don't need a season on a self regulating resource.
