suppose to be sucky weather this weekend.. Heard highs low 50's and rain Saturday afternoon into Sunday..... I am going rockfishing on my brother's charter boat Saturday, and he has been knocking the snot out of the rockfish all week so I am looking forward to that and may trout fish Sunday...... but keep me in mind for future clay shoots..

Carlisle F & G's course was very different experience for me. No Trap Boys. They have all automatic throwers. Your Squad Scores and Pulls the targets. The course was a nice challenge - it always has been. The guys I shot with were some good fellows. An 11 yr old shot with us, his first year of shooting - it's nice to see the young ones show interest - his form was very nice - he looked like a mini adult when shooting - kept his head into the gun, kept his weight forward and shot surprising well for a 1st year 11 yr old - I was rather glad to have him along, it kept me from being in last place.  For a Guest 50 targets cost 11 bucks. They also offer skeet, but today they were holding a registered skeet shoot so I did not play with the skeet. Anyone Interested in Bustin a few at Starview tomorrow - Sunday....... Drop me a line if ya are. |

Automatic or "throw them yourself" seems to be the growing trend. Saves the club a few bucks but takes away some of the variety an inventive trapper could throw at you. Not like the trappers were getting rich, but I guess every penny counts.

Mikie my experience with the clubs and trappers is most of the times the trappers were kids and it appears there was always a shortage of them. School activities and other stuff. I am not sure if the club paid them or they worked for tips as I always tipped my trap boy. I like to tip him or her well before shooting as it seemed my scores were higher that way. Often times they could see pieces no one else could see........... Do you do any shooting? Sometime if you need a tag along let me know. |

Used to be into it heavy. Sub Gauges and all. Actually got a job at J&P in Sudlersville for 3-4 years (closed up a couple of years ago, owner died from cancer) to support my shooting habit. Trappers used to get paid a couple of dollars for every round they threw plus tips. Tips were a big help because the pay was small. Actually won my class at the Maryland State Shoot when it was in Poolesville in '94. Made the Maryland All State Team in '96. My main shooting buddy got cancer and gave up drinking beer and finally passed. Haven't shot for several years, heart's just not into it right now.

My class is not that for yours, but I suffered the same loss I am thinkin. My shooting buddy died 10 yrs ago, put a stopper in my bottle - right now, I am drinkin to him and trying again. When ever your heart is ready let me know. |

I shot Starview Sunday and found there where some dramatic changes due to the possible pollution of near by water ways. They no longer shoot 5 Stand or Skeet and have backed up the Sporting Clay Targets on the creek side of the course as not to have shot falling in the creek. I did not ask about the trap however the location of the trap houses tell me they are not longer shooting trap either. I am looking into where to shoot next weekend 05/05/2012 and 05/06/2012 - I can host or travel....... Shot Hopewell Fish and Game today. Cost 12 bucks and ya need to sign a waiver - they stamp your card, shoot 11 rounds an the 12th is free. Shot with a group from Maryland whom were celebrating one of the guys birthday. The thought crossed my mind to run them out of dodge because they were tresspassing in PA until I found out most of them liked Old Bay Seasoning, then I realized they may not be native born in Maryland...............  The experience was great and the guys were fun..................looking to do it again next weekend - hopefully with someone from on here - one never knows. |

Al got sick (skeerd I think) - I did a round, 50 birds - I am 70 to 75% shooter Ron - much depends on the course - I like short and fast - long and falling suck............... Every once in awhile I can look impressive - but it never lasts....... |
