Hey everyone,
My name is Jake and I'm really interested in learning how to do some recreational crabbing. I Just moved to the Hampton/ Virginia Beach area from Montana so i really don't know much about blue crabs or different crabbing methods i can take part in. I have used pots to catch crawfish in streams and rivers overnight but I'm sure there are many differences. I'd appreciate any advice and good luck crabbing.

Grin First thing to do, is go to a baitshop, and get legal brochure on what NOT to do. Talk to the guy behind the counter, and he'll start you on your way. Could take just a net, string, and chicken necks or wings, and find a pier. Just buy a spool of string from the baitshop, as walmart will sell you string, but may not offer seasoned advice like the local guy can.
