Greetings everyone,

I am glad I find this site because I am an avid seafood lover and love to do crabbing although I have not done it since 1982! I dream about going crabbing again and I need to have some guidance on where to go. I live about 3 hours from Myrtle Beach and 1.5 hours from Charleston, SC. Nice to meet all of you and hopefully I will be able to go this weekend! I look forward to your expert replies. DP

Hey dude, welcome, i live in Summerville & just started up crabbing since i moved here 2 & 1/2 years ago from Staten Island NY and done all my crabbing on the Jersey shore. We do have an advantage here as the water temp RARELY dips low enough for the crabs to dig in.  I was directed to James Island county park by a fellow crabber/member and have been there twice. You have to get there appox 1 hr. prior to low or high tide due to the strong flow when tide is moving. Also there is the Mount Pleasant fishing pier which is a favorite of the local anglers. I'll make my first trip there this week and will post results. The Pier is directly under the Ravenel bridge on US 17. Cross bridge and stay to extreme right & make first right off bridge and follow signs to pier. Good luck and best wishes. Mike
