Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, but I'm thinking about using clams this year. I was told that you space the bags out to about 8 to 10 feet instead of the normal 4 to 6 or so feet. My line has 5 foot spacing so there are 240 snoods. Also how long do you keep the snoods. Mine are fairly long. Any help would be appreciated.

You could put a chicken/fowl neck between your bags.

Also clams are not cheap so don't put toomany in a bag i use 3-4 per bag depending on size . I use short snoods on my clam bag lines4-6 in. long snoods may tend to tangle more. my bait spacing on my clam lines is 12 ft. good luck they work well, especially early.oh i forgot ,forget the fowlnecks - chx when using clams -waste of time and bait.

I agree rdbeard on the necks, just something I seen before.  120 clambags is plenty of baite for a recreational crabber.

Crabman, the reason i said don't waste the necks is because if your using clams the crabs will have nothing to do with necks. given a choice side by side crabs will eat the clams and not touch the necks.
