Hit the Lake Sunday with 4 adults and 5 kids to run the traps and pull the tube, had a great trip but it was very rough.  Had people getting seasick, which wasn't helped by buckets of crab bait and some decomposing flounder and drum that volunteered into the traps.  Ended up with 62 keepers on 24 traps.  Largest was 8 3/4", my biggest to date.  He had the biggest claw I have ever seen on one side, looked like a [dang] fiddler crab.  Other side was a just a small claw otherwise I would have put him in the freezer.  Had two others at 8"; unfortunately, one of them died on the way home so I just put him in the freezer in case someone ever needs an 8" crab (he is perfect and clean and nice, was a shame not to eat him).  Hope the move is paying off for Capt. Ron.  Numbers aren't super high on the North Shore but the crabs are big. Hope the wind slacks soon, I'm tired of spilling all my drinks Wink.

Busted.  I am in fact a Maryland ex-pat living in Louisiana. Grew up in Rockville, undergraduate on the Eastern Shore.  Been in LA half my life, married a native and raising family here so I'm a bit of a hybrid. I like to say I represent the best of both worlds with my northern charm and southern efficiency. Every coonass I steam crabs for is converted. But I do add a jar of liquid crawfish boil to the vinegar and beer steaming solution, gives the crabs a little extra kick without overpowering them.

Wind is finally going to lay, gonna fish the causeway for trout tomorrow and run the traps Saturday with my 12 year old and 3 of his buddies for his "birthday party". Crabbing, fishing, hydroslide, sandbar, potato cannon; beats the snot out of Chuckie Cheese!

Ron, you still going to give me crabbing tips now that you found out I'm originally from North of I 10?

Yeah buddy.  Just say when and where.

You went fishing yesterday Friday?  I was out there on the bridge with my friend Nickey.  North shore between 2 and 4  (18-20) Miles out.  Caught 28 specs an 1 red.  Left by 2.  Plenty of small fish.

Talked to a commercial craber while at Mand. BL and he said that the crabs have shut down.  Everyone I talk to says the same thing.

Going to pick up some dirty traps.  Talk to ya soon.

Ronnie
