I have plastic rod holders on my jon on the back and middle seats. The holders are the three rod kind. I use 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" pvc and use the 1 and 3 hole for the support and just run the prop over the side. I was worried at first that it may not be strong enough but two years later no problems yet. I also use the same setup on my center console on the transom with no problems yet. Quick & easy to put on and take off and I didn't have to drill or add anything extra which I don't like to do if possible. I know there are 1000s of ways. This is my cheap/easy way  Grin
