I made 7 of the 15x20 traps. Used 14 ga. wire mesh from Tractor Supply. Soooo heavy to pull all day. Just for kicks I made one with 24'' high doors which were loaded with bait. Looked and felt like I was pulling up a shopping cart full of necks.(nothing in the regs saying how high the doors can be.lol) I never used them again. I made a complete set of 10x10 traps. The reasons I went with the 10x10 are:
1.) They fit into milk crates perfectly.
2.) You have less waste if using a 2ft. wide roll of 1"x2" mesh.
3.) I never see a crab bigger than 10".

BTW, Does anybody remember the link that had the step by step instructions (including pictures) for building your own traps? They put a new computer at my desk and I lost all my favorite sites.

Thanks for posting that link, Crabbyd. I see the new instructions for bait cages.

I have an idea of my own.
I have been saving the orange mesh bags when I buy produce.
Been thinking of using pieces of them as bait bags so my bait will last longer.
Any input would be appreciated.
If not, I will try it and let ya'll know.

I have tried using the bags before but the crabs ripped up the bags. They only lasted 10 min on hand lines. Might work a little better if you have thicker bags.

I also like the smaller traps. Easier to pull and more room for the smaller traps.
