The new launch was open and I was finally able to put my traps out. I put 6 traps out this afternoon. I was bored so I decide to go check a couple after a 3 hour soak. My first trap had 8 keepers 2 Eggers and a bunh of undersized crabs. Ended up with 23 in the box. Not much size to them an a lot of females. Was thinking about leaving the traps out for a week but I do not think the bait will last if they keep running. I will wait and see how I do in the morning.

That's a nice haul. I was out gigging last Saturday night behind the pass and I saw a gillion blues behind the pass. My net man stayed home so we didn't pick any up. Looks like we have a strong crop this year.

That's a nice haul. I was out gigging last Saturday night behind the pass and I saw a gillion blues behind the pass. My net man stayed home so we didn't pick any up. Looks like we have a strong crop this year.
How did you do on the flounder? |

Went and picked up the traps after a night of soaking. Two of the traps had over a dozen each. Ended up with 53 crab. Crabbing might be good this year.

I had a pretty good day crabbing too. I spent the weekend 180 miles from the Gulf Coast, watch my daughter graduate from college, and caught a dozen crabs the orange crate on the side of my house when I got home.

San Luis Pass is located between Galveston Island and Brazoria County. From Galveston you drive west past the end of the Seawall about 20 miles. If you do go crabbing there from the shore, be very careful. The pass has a very dangerous currents and shifting sand that will disappear below you in an instant.

Thanks Craig, sorry I didn't respond promptly. I don't gig in the pass because of the currents but up (east) from the pass in the grass flats. Its also a crabbing paradise if you have a light and a net.
