What's an easy way to keep the pool noodle floats and their cord from tangling while traveling?  I use a plastic milk crate to store them.  After I put the first trap into the plastic crate, I can't throw in the pool noodle because it will tangle when I try to pull it out unless you pull it out exactly as you put it in.  Any ideas on how to keep my cords from tangling?  Rubber bands work, but not for long because the deteriorate.

Leave a small loop in the line, at the float. Coil the line into the trap , hang the loop over the corner post, and stack 'em on up. Then when you're setting just put the stack in front of you. throw the float over and it will pull the line out of the trap in time for you to bait it. Drop it over and on to the next one.

I just wrap the line around the float (pool noodle) and lay it in the bottom of the trap. The next trap in the stack gets the same treatment, so on and so forth.

Carlos, how thick is your line?  I use 3/16" line and just allow it to pile loosely in the trap then lay the pool noodle float on top.  Then the next trap goes on top of that which holds the float and line below in place.  I then use a bungee cord from the bottom trap over the top of the stack and back to the opposite side of the bottom trap.  I lay them down, stand them up, carry them, throw them in the back of the truck, etc. & no tangles.  The line comes right out the way it went in with no special tricks to it.

It may be more about the thickness of the line than the method.  Thin line will tangle more easily.

I went out and measured my line this morning and found that it's 1/8" nylon.  I think I will start by changing it.  I found the other suggestions about how to handle the line very useful.  I like the one about feeding the line in and letting the float dangle out and when you stack the next trap, that holds the cord in place.

Thanks, you guys (and gals) never let me down.

Here's an interesting thread that talks about this very subject.
