Skates aka "sting rays" have been tearing up everyone's bait lately on the shore; Oxford, St. Mike's , and Tighlman Island have been gettin hit hard the past week or so. My teenage past time was shootin them things with arrows... they're such pests.

I caught a pretty big one the other day at the HRBT which is only a few miles from the bay... The should be showing up. Here is a video of the one I caught in my kayak..

I catch a few every time I go for blues and striped bass.  One time I caught 8 with no blues or stripers.  You can tell the difference because it feels like dead weight on the line. At least they make decent crab bait.  I usually use a pitch fork to bring them on the boat now.

I caught one at Love point yesterday while chunking for Stripers. I also saw a couple on top of the water in the Chester toward Bogles boat ramp. Hope this helps. Ididn't know what part of the bay you were looking for.

No, I caught an oyster cracker and the ray and had something decent shake the hook. The weather got way too hot for us and we left empty handed. I heard they are there though.

I had a skate at OC bayside while on my kayak last week. It broke my line. They were all over the place. 2 weeks ago I saw a guy catch one by the bay bridge. I hope the croaker and blue fish show up soon.

I wish we would have tried that. There wasn't much wind and I had my dad with me that had open heart surgery a few months ago. I'll get him out there again in the next couple of weeks. We'll be out in a 20 foot War Eagle if you see us out stop by and say hi. Wink
