went on may 8th land crabbing with a friend of mine.  caught over 30 blue crabs, a horseshoe crab, and 2 eels.  Bugs were pretty bad and the crabs came in sporadically so it took us awhile to get what we needed.  Used turkey necks for bait.  had 11 traps and started from 8am and finished at 1pm.  Very heavy crabs and very tasty but not as big as the Florida crabs I'm used to catching.  Well the season is still early so maybe all the babies will be bigger come June...thanks for listening.

I mostly caught blue crabs on the gulf coast from Ft. Myers up to Keaton Beach.  I also caught them on the atlantic mostly by Jacksonville...my aunt lives in west palm beach but i never crab or fish when I'm there so I don't know what to tell you.  In Ft Myers though blue crabs are usually used for tarpon bait.

I just picked up a case of  turkey necks at Moyer Mitchell in voorhees NJ. $22 for a 30lb frozen case. I hacked them in half w a cleaver and stocked my bait freezer for the season. Also grabbed a 40 lb case of fresh chicken necks to try out for $12 a case.

I live in philly so I don't know if it would be useful...Bell's Market.  But usually you can get turkey or chicken necks at an ethnic or international grocery stores.  about 99 cents a pound.
