Hit the water with Rapp414 this morning around 6:30 with 30 traps baited with necks.    Ran my usual stretch of bay and landed on top of the Jimmies.    We were pulling in a 1/4 bushel per run.   We did three runs and then had to pull into my dock so I could attend a mandatory meeting of the boat club I belong to.    Spent 1/2 an hour in dock, then went out  and ran the traps one more time and kept them on board as we filled the bushel basket.

Ran into another BCA member who was out in his Carolina Skiff (his screen name escapes me, though) who started running a line of traps parallel to ours.   Also ran into my buddy TAJCrabs who was crabbing with his son from a dock.

The catch was almost exclusively male crabs, with many of them hovering around the  5.75" to 6.25" range.    Large crab was 6 3/4"    We had a few sponge crabs that got thrown back and three or four large sooks without sacks, which we kept.    We caught a sook that kind of had a "half sponge" on it, but interestingly it had one of the biggest barnacles I have every seen on it.  I hope Rapp414 (who didn't lose anything to the drink today) has a good photo of that.

It was a great day all the way around.Great weather, caught some nice size crabs, and amazingly that's ONE trip in a row{which is a record for me} not losing anything in the drink.Plus we didn't run into any riff raff in a Trophy like I did last time out.I managed to find the pic of Barnacle Betty too.

They were very tasty too,my wife cleaned them, and I made half of them in sauce and grilled the other half basting them with garlic and melted  butter.Really enjoyed them barbecued,it's the first time I cooked them that way,and definately not the last.

I used the lowest possible heat and put double tin foil on the grill with small holes in it so the butter didn't start burning, like it did the time before,I thought they were great.and plan on doing it again
