This was my first attempt and I must say I thought it went great! Timing was everything. Crabbed off the Kiptopeke pier twice on Sunday. Early in the morning caught one sponge and a couple of hermit crabs, so we went back empty handed. Tried again at 5:00 and stayed until 7:00. We pulled up 20 sooks and only three were sponges. We seemed to be more successful than the other people crabbing who were using nets and chicken necks alone. Our traps were baited with a combination of squid leftovers from fishing bait and chicken necks.
