In the interest of the new topic here is a report from York River, West point area.

Set pot (1) in about 8' of water.  Once on the point and once on the channel edge.  Total time in the water about 8-9hours.

Total catch...one small she crab.  No luck handlining and trapping in 5' water from boat either in about 1-1/2 hour of trying in a area near the light tower about 4 miles southeast of West Point.

Mabey next weekend...

Update:

Saw a couple of guys working pots in the mouth of the pamunky at west point when they came in for more bait.  They had about a bushel of good 5-6"ers and about 100 croakers in their skiff.

They said that the crabbing had been very slow with most pots comming up empy that morning (5/30)

They were gone befor I could try to buy those crabs off of them...rats.

I did not try as time was short and storms were comming...again... Sad

As a commercial buyer, I've been buying a good many crabs out of the York this year, particularly from the West point area.  Believe it or not, your neck of the woods is producing some nice jimmies lately(now mid-june).  I'll ask where the action is, one trick, though-doublers are very scare in your area now but are starting to pick up, leave your pots for 3-4 days but don't bait them.  Trust me.  look for commercial pots and stay around them , but DONT get too close and allow for drift over a several day period.
