Dropped 3 ring nets w/C-necks off Bro-in-laws dock. Picked up 11 keepers, threw back 25 or so smallies. Sad to say most paperbacks w/ little meat. It will get better.

Can't help ya about Oak Is. Just move here 8 month's ago & don't know the local waters well enough to give advice to anyone unless I was there myself & caught something. Creolechef

Hey creolechef I'm in New Bern too. I'm sure we crossed hand lines at some point. We went out on the 1st (7/1/12) and came home with a nice bunch all over 6" with 2 over 7" and one at 8". We only crabbed for about an hour due to the heat that day 100+ index!
Here's a close up of the big crab...

Hey Desg, That 8" is a whopper in any state. Your son is brave to hold on that big guy. My kids (down from New England) came to visit over the 4th & wouldn't touch a crab for nothing. A couple of 23-25 yr old wimps, sad to say. Checked out your blog & facebook sites. Very impressive. Like to chat with you on your sites sometime soon. I'm in Fairfield Harbor. Thanks for your posts on my catch. Creolechef
