Not looking for specific sweet spots, but can you reach crabbing grounds by kayak on the Wye, launching at the the ramp.   I used to crab there 10 years ago by boat, but that was my friends boat.  I never really paid attention to how far we traveled to set gear.

This will all depend on the time of the season from the end of July till the end of Sept. you should be able to crab with in sight of the landing and do fine - last year during our Wye party I never lost sight on the ramp and did well - Did I catch bushels - nope but had fun enjoyed it and had plenty too eat. Is it impossible to catch bushels in sight of the landing - certainly not.
