In Dorchester, the market for crab sucks. At Kool Ice they are sitting on 600 bushels of #1 males and 165 of them are from the big Choptank. They just cut the prices on crabs again(the third time this week) to $65 for #1's , $20 for 2's and the same for culls. Sooks are bringing $25. And most days they say they cannot get rid of the crabs because no body can AFFORD to spend $175 for a bushel of steamed #1's. They can pick them for $65 a bushel. And this week they say they can't buy any because no one wants them.

Nobody can afford them? Walk into a restaurant where they sell crabs and I guarantee the ones that are sold out are the Jumbos at $72-96/doz.

They can afford them , they buy them with thier food stamps ! That is some real BS. If someone needs help thats one thing but when you see them buying crabs over something that has a nutritional value .......................................

same bs down here ,[Sam Hill] we ought to just grade them 11 and up and the buyers would still say that some one else some where else they were getting all they needed, buch of bs,I only speak for my self and the cost of everthing is going up down here and the price of crabs isnt really all that great.on our end.If the demand isnt  great at the moment why in the [Sam Hill] do all the buyers buy the [dang] things?GREED they cant stand it i know that us watermen gotta make it while we can and the live market can only stand so many bushels but when the .guy on the other end is getting more for a dozen than us watermen are getting for a bushel I think there is something wrong with that, and i understand everyone wants to make as much loot as possible on the product ,I guess what my point is that down here on the shore ive crabbed for 25 yrs and four generations and counting and seems like there is always more crabs and bigger crabs and better price somewhere else,or the buyers want us to think that, that being said GOD bless us watermen we need it,
