Nice catch! Used to go there all of the time with my dad and his buddies. Don't remember any boat hulls back in the 70's. I do remember the kids with the whalers flyin around to pick us up and if the tip was right on the way out they would bring you to the "hot spot'! We were right down the road on the 9th and caught 3/4 bushel from 5-6 am! If the tide is right , they are down there thick!

Always listening for reports on Beaver Dam.  Over the years,  when that place is hot its hot!   One time we caught 85 nice keepers in one hour.  One October several years ago  220 in about 3 hours.  Another year,  filled a bushel in about 2 hours.  Once a keeper monster stripper jumped out of the water right next to me, I was so startled I almost jumped out of the ship!  The biggest and best crabs I have ever caught seem to be in that area overall.  I also have caught some nice strippers there.  If you launch from the Owl's Nest,  you can make it there in about 15 minutes with a 15 horse.

Welcome back Willie....You'll have Millville Rescue Squad out telling these guys to launch at Owls Nest Grin Sat at Turkey Point one time when they were looking for a Beaver Dam crabber...wouldn't let us launch...Great size later on in season mainly...always liked it @ beginning of duck season..

BTW, I have bever caught a nice stripper there, or even a not nice one, but I remember Kimmie @ BD and she looked goood Wink

About 6 years ago  caught back to back keeper strippers on a perch hook in 3 feet of water while crabbing,  they were both 28 inches and fat   at low tide  they were waiting for their lunch to drain off the meadows back into the creek.  I had a small piece of bunker on and had to flip the stippers in the boat in a crab net.  It was lucky stuff and good eating with the crabs!

Ahhhh....just making light comedy of your spelling of "striper", which I have seen quite a few caught at Weir Creek bridge. When too windy some friends used to fish there a lot and caught some bice "stripers", usually with bunker they bought........Strippers use a different type pole Grin Wink.....and bait "is" money Smiley

Anyway on the subject of the old wreck, I remember the old guy who ran Hollywood Beach Rentals, he was miserable early in the morning when we were heading out, but in a jovial mood when we were coming back in. (My dad said he got a couple shots in him later, which brightened his mood).

Anyway, I remember my dad always giving the kid who towed a five ripped in half, telling him to drop us at the 'ol wreck' and pick us up at 11 to get the other half.

And I recall seeing it several times, but never when I returned in the '90s

Maybe Capt WillieCrab will remember.

Maybe over time it just deteriorated and rotted to pieces like alot of the other old land marks and signs in the area, especially if it was wooden material. Just like alot of the old duck blinds off Fortesque that just wither away and dissappear w time .

There was an old barge hull to the left of the oranoken heading away from beaver dam. It sat just before the branch off of Weir creek that run towards Turkey point. One part of it is still there up in the meadow buried in the mud.  The rest is sunk down in the channel, but there is still enough left that you can hit it at dead low tide. (ask me how i know) LOL.

Jode, that's got to be it, as Jumbo says, I know how time and weather takes it toll, but it was big enough at that time for some part to still be left. (I would hope)

I'd like to eyeball it once more.  Grin

there are a few old boat hulls out in the meadow. the one you're referring to close to BD is all but gone. you have to walk the meadow to find most of the others. none of them have caps on them anymore.
