Thanks,

I've never had good luck at Woodland Beach pier, but it goes directly into the bay.  Going into Woodland, those bridges are really solid.  I've done well there, but you kinda have to stop in the middle of the road, drop your stuff off, then hike it back.  I've also done well around Leipsic, but those bridges are a little smaller to take a kid.  I'd imagine you can probably catch a few here and there in both those spots.  Neither is very kid friendly though.  If you're down that way, you should take your grandson to Cupola Park in Millsboro.  It's a nice little park, I've caught crabs there this year, and it's a nice spot for kids.  There's a playground and plenty else to do there.

I've never done any crabbing from bridges but it's done a lot along route 9.  Mostly along the road which might be kind of sketchy for a 6 yo.  There are a couple docks at woodland beach in th river where the boat ramp is might be good.  Or you could try the dock and peir at Scotten Landing off route 1 outside Magnolia.

One of the bridges on Rt 9 between Augustine Beach and Woodland Beach will work . The east side has concrete barriers between you and the road. Good luck!

Go to Goggle Earth. In the upper left hand corner type in Augustine Beach ,De. Then zoomin there you 'll see Rt 9 follow that south to the first bridge. That's it, you'll see the walk way on the east side. Have fun!

Yankee, I have taken my kids to the 42 bridge I Liepsic several times, just off of rt9. As a matter of fact, my 6yo daughter and I were there for @ 2 hrs today and caught 7 keepers, and threw back entry. Good luck. Btw, it is a 25 mph speed limit there, and you are protected by jersey barriers on both sides of bridge.
