Well we steamed 1 1/2 bushels of females busting with meat tonight, but my bunch let me down, still have 1/3 bushel left, btw at 3:00 this morning i was shown 5 bushel of FLa. crabs that were 9 n 10 inches all, even i was in awe, turn these loose in the Wye and they would hunt up those Mumbos to make girlfriends out of them  |

Went to one of my spots in Ft. Pierce instead but came up almost empty handed. I dropped the pot under a different bridge and it is soaking as we speak. As soon as this monsoon passes I will retrieve it.
Then I will most certainly let you know whats in the box....

hey all, just joined to find out some very important info... Im new to Hernando county and want to go crabbing. I have gone a few times but i caught nada (well nothing worth mentioning). I was raised in NJ and only know ocean crabbing, gulf crabbing any different? Please can u give me a few tips cause reading all ur posts is getting me hungry.  Thanks lots. |

Down here in south FL (Ft Lauderdale) the blue crabs aren't as plentiful as back in NJ (or even northern FL), but you can still get enough for a couple of days. But I'll take 24/7/365 of polluted Ft Laud crabbing over 6 months of polluted NJ crabbing anytime. |

They should be catchin crabs over there, chicken and bunkers are what most use,fluke or flounder is probaly the best crab bait there is |

I've sold 800 lbs. a week for the last month and a half to a trucker from Ga. and he told me...... every last one was going to Maryland.....Gotta love them Florida Crabs!!!

What size do they need to be in FL? NJ is 4.5". And yeah, fluke ROCKS. Guess I need to stock up and bring it with me somehow. |

Chiefcrab, I'm a retailer out of Ga and I get the same talk from customers. My crabbers ship over 10,000 lbs to MD weekly for distribution. And all day I get people from maryland who claim all kinds of crazy things. I just smile and say "So your total is $... cash or credit?" cause if you are like me....a real crab-eater....then you eat crabs...plain and simple |

Here on Georgia's coast our crabs are big and beautiful. I caught and ate two bushels of steamed crabs. Oh! My neighbor sends 30,000 lbs. a week to Maryland disguised as Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs. He laughs all the way to the bank.  |

Where is your crab house? I may want to buy them if I can't catch them! Anyone in central Florida know a good place to buy them? I would really love to know! Ann How funny this is! I run a crab house in Florida and the suppliers I use ship over 4000 lbs. of crabs everyday to Maryland crab houses. I have to ship mine in from N.O. because the local suppliers are committed to Md. crabhouses since they pay higher prices. The independent guys around here are unreliable and only seem to go crabbing when they need rent money.
I've been in this business for 12 years and I can assure you any crabhouse in MD. open year round are getting their crabs from Florida/Georgia or the gulf coast and not the Chesapeake.
