New to area help with crabbing near Fredrick MD

We just moved to Gettysburg PA and know Fredrick MD pretty well since the wife works there. I really wanna take the family crabbing but I dont have a clue where to go. So I need to ask.. Is there anywhere close to Fredrick MD I can take the family crabbing? I know I would most likley have to drive another hour or so but thats fine. We would need to crab from land since I dont have a big boat. Please anyone who can help me here would be great. Thanks in advance for the help...

You're not really close to crabbing spots if you live in Gettysburg.  You might want to try the crabbing pier at Sandy Point State Park near  Annapolis - about 90 minutes from Gburg - if you're satisfied with a dozen, rarely more.  Also, the pier is fairly small so it can get crowded on weekends.  There might be some good crabbing near Baltimore but I'm not familiar with Bmore crabbing.

I"d suggest going a bit further and crossing the Bay Bridge where you have the chances of getting more and bigger crabs in the Wye.  Also, I think there is still a public pier near Romancoke.  Or, you can keep going east to Smyrna or Port Penn in Delaware, both places I found to be very productive but then you're talking about an all-day trip.   Good luck.
